In 2016, we had an idea to bring together other women who worked in investment management because we wanted to meet more people and make some new friends. Over the last six years, what was an informal gathering of women who met for social drinks has evolved into a community of 250 women who work in the investment management industry with the common purpose of uplifting and supporting each other in our professional aspirations.
In May, we celebrated a belated 5-year anniversary that was originally planned for 2021 at the Macquarie Group office. We thank Christopher Trent Trent for his unwavering support since inception through introductions and sponsoring many of our past events as well as this celebration. We also thank our Advisory Board (Anna Shelley, Sam SICILIA, Christopher Trent, Melinda Carter and Lucy Liu), past speakers and sponsors and the broader Women In Investments community. We would not have today without you.
