February 2020 | Mental health with Cooper Investors

On a bleak and cold February morning, with the pavement still wet from the morning rain, almost forty people managed to make their way on time to the office of Cooper Investors for a talk on mental health and well-being.

The event was one of the most personal that Women in Investments has had the honour of hosting. Peter Cooper and Suparna Bhasin shared their personal stories, their philanthropic initiatives and a practical 20 minute meditation exercise. The purpose was to demonstrate the importance of mental and emotional well-being in everyday life and for everyone.

For many people in the room, it was a first hand experience of using the breath as a way to change their state of mind and body awareness. The roots of the practice are from thousands year old yogic teachings. The 20 minute practice is a snapshot of what is taught at Art of Living (details of upcoming programs later in this email).

If the feedback from the event was a measure of impact, then I can say that this was one of our best events.

Mental well-being is a growing area of relevance and research. Peter Cooper and Suparna Bhasin are personally motivated to see more research and data into this area and their interests are formalised through their family giving vehicle, the MaiTri Foundation. It was a fantastic event and we hope that the work of Peter and Suparna spreads far and wide.
