In December 2019, we had the fortune to host an event on behalf of the Blackstone Group through the kind introduction of Wendy Norris. The speaker was Kathleen McCarthy, Global Co-Head of Blackstone Real Estate and Senior Managing Director. It was an invite only event to cater for an audience of less than 20 people.
Kathleen spoke on broad topics ranging from the efforts of Blackstone to create diversity by engaging with the top universities in the US to the role of Blackstone as an investor in a world where real estate prices are increasingly out of reach for the average citizen. Kathleen showed a depth of insight and character that kept the audience highly engaged and the dinner was arguably one of our top events for 2019.
As we look at the data supporting the case for diversity, we hope that organisations will continue to build on the work that has been started to create better outcomes for both men and women in the industry. For firms who already recognise this data, such the Blackstone Group, they are leading the industry and paving the way for a future with more diverse leadership in all its forms - gender, race, age...
For Women in Investments, we see 2020 as a continuation of what we are doing and hope to build on our highly engaged membership base through interesting events.
